Liz Doube
Newline’s interior designer Liz Doube was drawn to furniture as a child. Her great uncle Gerard Doube made a name for himself in the post-war period. “I used to love going to his factory in Port Melbourne and seeing the stickers ‘Made by Doube’ attached to each design” says Doube, who recalls the multi-purpose lounge he designed. Her aunt, artist Denise Bryant, also influenced Doube’s gravitation towards art and design at school.
“I always thought how great it must have been for Frank Lloyd Wright. He designed everything from the architecture and interiors, through to the furniture and lighting, to the very last detail” - Liz Doube
Doube is constantly carrying around her sketchbook, which is full of hand-drawn images. Every second page boasting details of chairs and tables she has imagined.
